Around the time Harper was born we decided that it was time to move back to Ankeny. Since Ty got a job in Ankeny, there wasn't the commute to worry about anymore and we also thought we needed a more kid-friendly neighborhood. With that I listed our house with a realtor one day while I was on maternity leave and Ty was at work. And there she's sat...
We've changed Realtors since that time but haven't really gotten any bites that have lead anywhere. We told ourselves that we didn't really want to look at houses (to get our hopes up) until we got a good bite. Well, one Sunday we were bored and went looking at the Open Houses. We went to a new house that was under our budget, but ended up loving the craftsmanship and the quality. That's when they told us there was another open house across the street by the same builder. This was house was WAY over budget, but it had the same craftsmanship and quality we were looking for. At that time we told the builder's wife that they had nice houses, but we didn't really think we wanted to build.
Next thing you know we called the builder that night and put a lot deposit on this lot:
From there it's been a whirlwind of picking our floor plans, cabinets, faucets, etc. We're excited to get a house specifically catered to what we want and like, but at the same time it's very stressful. I'm sure we'll build this house and find all kinds of things we wish we would have done differently... but I'm really trying not to over think EVERYTHING--because it's starting to stress Tyler out...with all the forced communication, changing my mind a million times, and asking him thousands of hypothetical questions.
So here she is today:
Soon to look like this:
