Age: 3 months
Stats: He didn’t have a doctor’s appointment this month, but my guess is he’s over 15 lbs!
Mr. Serious
Clothes: Wearing mostly 3 months. Most of his one pieces {rompers and footed pajamas} are too short {yes, we’re as shocked as you are} so he’s in 3-6 on those, but they’re super baggy in the tummy area still {which is also surprising given the photos}. His 0-3 onesies are getting a little snug as well, but we're still squeezing into them because there is nothing cuter than a belly on a baby!
Favorite Foods: Eating 6 oz of formula about every 3 hours with a few cluster feedings at night. He sleeps from about 8/9 pm to 5/6 am
Didn't take much to convince him to be happy :)
Favorite Words: He’s starting to coo and talk. Melt my heart. This week he also started singing back to you if you sing to him.
Favorite Activities: Watching his sister bounce around the house. He likes to be in his bumbo or “bouncy chair” so he can follow her with his eyes. He loves to have conversations with you—his whole face lights up when he smiles.
and who can resist a naked baby
Least Favorite Activities: Being hot. HOLY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE. He will start fussing if he’s hot {which sounds a lot like his fussing when he’s hungry} and he will give you about 30 seconds to rectify the situation. After that 30 seconds is up he will start screaming at the top of his lungs and thrashing around uncontrollably. At which point we try to hold him in our arms and feed him because his screams sound so similar {which is only making him hotter}. Sometimes he will drink the bottle, thinking that will cool him down. Nine times out of 10 that does not work so he pushes the bottle out and continues to scream and thrash while we’re holding him. It isn’t until he gets really red and sweaty that we figure out, “Ohh wait, he’s hot—that’s why he’s screaming, not that he’s starving. Then we run to the nearest fan or A/C vent to cool him off, all the while telling him that getting himself all worked up only makes him hotter...
Favorite things: His fist. Any time he finds it, it’s in his mouth. Yesterday I observed him alternating what fingers he was sucking on, always keeping a minimum of three in his mouth at any given time. In the last week he’s figured out how to pull the binkie out of his mouth so that his fist can fit in there. Tyler, myself and the daycare provider are pretty much on Mission Binkie around here.
Is it just me or is this a spitting image of Tyler?!?!
Signature moves: Lately he talks. Really loudly! I think he's saying "hey, I'm here too" It's already a competition for loudest voice between brother and sister...
Mom’s Proudest Moment: I put Miles on the bed {with sufficient pillows surrounding him in case he decided to use this time to show us he could roll over} and Harper on the bed to watch Little Bill, while I put clothes away. I came back into the room and Harper was squishing Miles’ cheeks together and saying “Cute BOY”! When I pulled her off of him his cheeks were pretty red, showing that she had been doing that for a little while... No personal space for this kid....
the smiliest baby I've ever met
Dad’s Proudest Moment: At about 2.5 months I pulled the bumbo out of storage and put it in his room. Tyler one morning thought that meant Miles was ready to use it. One morning Ty put Miles in it so he could watch us get ready. A few minutes later Tyler asked if his head was supposed to look like that, when I came out to look Miles must have given up trying to hold his head up and was leaning backwards hanging over the back of the bumbo.
Other Milestones: He started sleeping through the night during the Iowa State Fair (August 17th time frame). Up until about a week ago he’s slept all the way through the night. He must be having a growth spurt because this last week he’s been getting up somewhere between 12-2 a.m. and chugging a bottle.
