It's been awhile since a posting! We have kept very busy with school and work, leaving us not a lot of time for anything in-between.
This weekend was spent with friends, it was much needed and quite relaxing. Bailey, Hayley, & Jenna all went to high school together, and over the years I have finageld myself into their circle, which has grown to include all of our husbands. :) We started planning this trip back in March, as we knew our weekends would fill up quickly. We picked a spot 1/2 way between our friends from Cedar Falls, Matt & Bailey and our recent Missourians Jimmy & Jenna, so Eddie & Hayley, and Ty and I met them at Nine Eagles State Park in Davis City, Iowa.
The trip started out a little rocky... Ty and I were relaxing, when the DNR pulled up and asked us where the kids were. We thought they were implying that we looked too relaxed and we should have kids running wild around our campsite. We both laughed and replied, "there are no kids here!" That's when the Park Rangers turned off their truck and stepped out. Was this a kids only campsite?!?! Turns out you are only able to have 2 tents or 1 camper on each site, but you cannot have a camper and a tent unless you have kids... The ranger told us we were going to have to move. To where? it was Memorial Day weekend, we still had two more couples meeting us! That's when Ty instantly turned on his natural salesman ways and started negotiating with the park rangers... We ended up giving them $40 if they let us keep the tent on the site. From there on out it was the relaxing trip we were hoping for...
We enjoyed catching up, canoeing, and LOTS of yard games. We couldn't have asked for a better Memorial Day Weekend! (this might have to become an annual thing ladies!)
Jenna, Hayley, me, & Bailey enjoying the sun:
Even though there were high levels of bacteria in the water and it was recommended that we don't "ingest" the water, we still had a good time by the lake:
The boys and their yard games...
Just too much action for Gracie girl...
Stay tuned, as we have a busy week/weekend planned that I hope to post on here in the next week! We are priming and painting the pool as well as traveling out to Denver for a mini-vacation!
